Tempered Glass Question

Hi Everyone. Happy Thanksgiving!
Question: Son brought me home some flat pieces of tempered glass salvaged from a broken food serving cart (multiple levels) The pieces are maybe 16 by 14 and not more than a 1/4 inch thick. Clear and smooth like window glass. Hardly a hint of green. He said he saw one shattered and it was not 'sparkly' like auto glass is when it shatters. It also wasn't as green. He knows that I have been on the hunt..so decided to take it home. So my question is .. are there different types of tempered glass? There is a stamp on the glass that says "tempered." I am hoping to use to make a gazing ball for the garden. Thanks. Dorothy
