My Golden Papaya

Oak Hill, FL(Zone 9b)

this is one of three plants, grew here in my yard from seeds the birds droped, and they are all self pollinating, however, I have put hours of work into them, the other two are a mix between golden and red and oblong, but they are down to half a dozen now, amazing for zone 9b.

i don't know if i'm lucky or not, still trying to learn.don't know if it's a girl or boy.is the bloom going to be the only way to know?

The flower is the only way to tell, if you use seeds from an hermaphroditic Papaya, your chances of a seedling turning out the same should be around 70 percent.

thanks,at least i know what to expect

Here's a 'boy'. Compare flower size to my thumbnail. The stem coming from the trunk at the base of the leaf, in Female, the flower buds have less stem, and much much larger flowers, if not one flower, then several with one dominant.

I'll carry my camera with me, and get some girlie photos.
