Could they be Greater White-fronted Geese?

The geese in adels pictures are Gray-lag geese. They are commonly kept as domestic birds, and most likely escaped, not native to North America. White-fronted Geese are much smaller than Canadian Geese.

Thanks Gary........I had decided that the one with the orange bill was a Graylag but the one with the nob and the other with the light colored bill had me wondering.

LOL, Thanks Gary, I was totally confused as that was the closest match I could find on the Bird Database. :-)

Google has pics of Graylag geese showing the orange bill and also the nob. It's under E.J. Peicker, nature photographer.

Put out some peanuts in the shell. This Jay likes them.

but not this one. He eats every thing but the peanuts.

Nice pics adel! Yes, peanuts in the shell are an instant attraction for the Bluejays here.

The '?' geese are domesticated Chinese Geese (Anser cygnoides). The wild form from eastern Asia (a.k.a. Swan Goose) doesn't have the knob on the bill, but the domesticated ones do.

One useful tip - any goose or duck with an upright posture and a fat rear end hanging down between its legs, is invariably a domesticated farm escape of some sort.

There was lots of birds twittering in the hedges today, but it was extrememly dull and near impossible to get good pics.

Chaffinch, a female I think.

Blue Tit

Blue Tit and squirrel, see how the tip of it's tail has focused through with being over the fence.

Great Tit, it has much more black on than I have seen.

A Magpie spent ages at the bottom of the neighbour's garden, such a shame the light was so poor!

This looks like a young blackbird waiting to be fed!

Magpie, and pheasant on the fence which I hadn't seen!

The blackbirds have obviously been busy breeding this year, the last young ones I saw were not very old, they seem to be getting another lot going as soon as one lot is able to be fed by one parent. I don't know how many this one makes, it must be at least 4 broods this year. This baby is quite young, looks like mother on the fence too.

Well you would be all fluffed up too in these cold winds!

Hey, I know it's a lousy pic but the magpie flew, it was a narrow gap and I got it! And there's a Mistle Thrush on the fence too! Next time.......

My friend Robin slipped amongst my pots this afternoon, where it was shady, and there was sun by that time although it was getting low. He wanted to pose for me, put on his best face.
