I said nothing of the acting! I only watched for the 'other' girls besides Hanks and the other guy.
I'm curious, what's your favorite movie and why?
Bosom Buddies was a silly sitcom but Hanks showed some of his comic gifts. Other guy was Michael...Scolari?
Later was on the Bob Newhart show--New Hampshire version.
I always thought it was great that some of our comics became good actors. Hanks is maybe the best of them but Robin Williams has done pretty well. (He also started out in a bad sitcom with a rediculous premise--although he made it watchable.)
Aguane, I really liked Suspects & 6th Sense for the same reason. I will try & catch your others.
I think it was Peter Scolari. He was good on Newhart.
Yeah, he was. disappeared after that
His ego got too big. He balked at doing a Bosom Buddies reunion movie because he thought he was beyond all of that. Tom Hanks, who was a huge star by then, had agreed to do it until the project had to be scrapped because of Scolari's outrageous salary and billing demands.
It figures that one of them had to be a diva!
Who here remembers the very young John Travolta?
Younger than Vinnie?
Naw. I was remembering Vinnie Barbarino. Mostly, though, I was remembering Horshack.
That was my favorite show in high school!
That's another one I liked as a kid and cringe if I see it now.
I haven't seen it since then, so leave me be with my memories!!! :-)
Hey Guys; Peter Scolari disappeared because he joined a Nudist Colony in Vermont. He has recently been on the HBO series "Big Love" as a seminary instructor. He is also involved with the movie "Letting Go" which is in post production with a 2008 scheduled release date.
Brrrrrr :-(
A nudist colony in brrrrrrrrrrr.....vermont?
...why?
According to imdb, he never really disappeared at all. Been working steadily - just nothing real big.
There are way too many things I have to refrain from commenting on from your post, zebraman! Nudist colony vs. much of what follows, including the HBO title. Too much!
Doubt if it's big love.... in Vermont.....in February.
Where else could I have learned so much about Peter Scolari?! Only on DG!
Maybe in VT, Dave.
That would be more than I want to know!
Hans' new movie looks good. Its the time of year for all the Oscar-hopeful movies to come out.
Victor, I had to go back and re-read zebra's post after yours to see what I missed.
You certainly don't miss a thing.
Hee hee.
Hans?
Some of my all time faves:
It's a Wonderful Life (funny, tear-jerker, romantic, set in my home state of Upstate NY - lol)
Bedazzled (original version with Peter Cooke & Dudley Moore; hilarious British comedy)
March of the Wooden Soldiers (does anyone remember this holiday classic???)
Year of Living Dangerously (excellent "ex-pat" film; exciting, romantic, realistic ...)
Garden State (just a little bit Off -- the way I like them)
Love Actually (chick flick all the way)
Lair of the White Worm (Bizah & Campy -- possibly Hugh Grant's first film)
Farewell my Concubine
Eat Drink Man Woman
Chariots of Fire
... too many to name as I'm running out to a party soon!

Welcome Wrightie! Nice movie picks. I haven't given my list of favorites in this thread yet... I've been thinking about it though! Someone asked me today what movies were my favorites. I guess somebody wants me to answer!
No rush, Harp. (Hee hee.)

Oh, uggh. I saw Deliverance. Loved the banjo playing.

I didn't mean Hans, I meant Hanks Charlie Wilson's War
I remember March of the Wooden Soldiers. Don't see it aroud much anymore. Miracle on 34th ST. is another classic.
Merry Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas to you too Dave. And Merry Christmas to everyone!
Hey Dave47; March of the wooden soldiers is the re-release title for "Babes in Toyland" 1934. Aka: Laurel and Hardy in Toyland.
US TV Schedule- Tue. Dec, 25, 1:00 pm CW/Station (channel 3)
Ha! "Babes in Toyland" is the name of a woman owned and operated sex toy shop in Manhattan.
And how do you know that, Harper?!! Merry Christmas everyone! March of the Wooden Soldiers is pretty cheap on dvd.
I'm a grown woman. I'm allowed to know these things.
Thanks zebraman!
Well everyone here seems very happy including me!
Glad to hear you're happy Dave!
and i'm sure he's happy you're glad...
Kids were delighted. Good Christmas. (that was what I was trying to say)
