CLOSED: Ivory-billed Woodpecker?

So I was watching Gray's Anatomy lastnight and there was this patient who is a birder. He commented he couldn't die and had to go to Arkansas to see the Ivory-billed Woodpecker where it was recently discovered. I thought, "is this real or was it written in for the show?" I guess there is that possibility there are a few in Arkansas.

I must admit I'm not a birder but I admire birds from the little wren that hopped around my garden today to the big Bald Eagle that flew over my house the other day. Surprising considering I live in the centre of a large'ish city. Here's some kinda hawk that caught a pigeon and ate it in my garden a few months ago.

Yeah, there was a lot of hyperbole a year or two ago about a claim of an Ivory-billed Woodpecker filmed in Arkansas, but careful examination of the video footage proved it was just a Pileated, with sunlight reflecting off its secondary feathers and making them appear white.

Ivory Billed woodpeckers have now ben reported from Florida swamps by some college researchers.
