Hearing Problem

It seems that the elderly gentlemen had noticed a change in his wifes hearing and was concerned about it. Knowing how she hated to go to the doctor he called the doctor to try to get her an appointment anyway. He was informed that it would be a long wait for an appointment because they were quite busy and the appointment would'nt be for three weeks. The doctor ask him to do a test for her hearing at home until she could get to the doctor to have a hearing test. He asked him to get behind her at about 40 ft. and say something and do this in decreasing feet until she could hear him.He saw her in the kitchen preparing dinner and thought to himself(this will be a perfect time to test her hearing). He was about 40 ft. behind her and she was standing at the stove cooking, and he asked her , in a moderate voice( whats for supper dear?) No response so he moved closer and asked again, no response, closer again, no response and again, and no response. Finally about 6 ft. away , he asked again,whats for supper dear at which she replied,(FOR THE FIFTH TIME ,I AM FRYING CHICKEN.
