plants for rocky poor soil bank?: Worcester MA

subject says it: not really rock garden : just lots of small rocks in soil: pretty dry: about 4 hours sun per day: rat guy here - none out there

is it level ground, or a slope?
how much area do you want to cover?
is there a look you want (flowers, evergreen, etc...) or just anything that will grow?
