I've been collecting Cannas over the summer and keeping them in containers temporarily. Some of them have developed new stalks in the container with them.
My (lasagne) bed for them will be finished tomorrow so I can transplant them into the ground - should I split them when I transplant them?
If so, how do I do that? With a knife, or what?
Should I split them when transplanting?
Can someone offer some advice, please? I have to do this tomorrow, so I need to know.
Thanks!! :))
Hi! I would not split them just because of your zone and the time of year.
Normally when I put a canna in the ground from a pot and it's rootbound, I'll split it up then because it makes it so much easier to divide down the road. I use a sharp knife for a root bound canna. Canna that are not root bound I just throw in the ground, they will be easy to divide later.
Thank you!! I didn't get it done today after all, so your answer helps me a lot. :)))
Cool :)
