Common Birds In Decline

Marlton, NJ

These numbers are really shocking and so sad.

Don't mean to bring everyone down but its good to be aware of these things.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Same over here.

It's all due to habitat destruction and degradation – intensive farming leaving no room for weeds (an awful lot of birds rely on weed seeds for food, and even more rely on the insects that eat weeds), 'tidiness' clearing away dense ground vegetation that birds need for nesting, overgrazing by livestock and/or deer, predation by uncontrolled pets, overfishing, climate change, etc., etc. The list goes on.

Yes its such ashame!

I was shocked at some of the numbers. :-(

Strasburg, VA(Zone 6b)

i always feel sad when i see land for sale that is wooded or even pasture as it usually means more development of shops or houses

it's rare that developers leave any natural habitat....we just had a cvs drugstore open up that actually saved a large tree on the lot and did a really nice brick wall around it...i was stunned....perhaps others will do the same and help a little bit

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Really surprised at the numbers & some of the listed birds!
