DAILY PICS VOL. 24

I turned back around and this Dove flew out of the hedge near me just a few feet away, took a while to realise I was there!

A little earlier a Wood Pidgeon sat in the Oak tree at the front of my house soaking up the sun.

This bird flew into a traggly shrub in the hedge above me on my roadway, against the sun, it doesn't quite look like a sparrow to me, maybe Resin knows?

Another pidgeon, in flight, it got the sun on it's wings.

I think I nearly got a Jay! It was flying low, I fixed it in view but the camera wouldn't shoot! Just got one of it flying between the neighbouring houses, what do you say Resin, looked like a jay to me!

That's the back end.

A Blackbird landed on the neighbour's fence, flew up and landed again, I just liked the funny angle.

Then three Mallard Ducks came flapping along! Keep together guys...

Man in the middle, gals either side (I think), this is fun..........

Stay in formation all...

looks like you had a fun day......our back yard is about ten acres, mostly conifers with a scattering of oaks, madrone, alder, willow and various shrubs. And oh yes poison oak.

I had a wonderful time today adelbert, the sun was shining, about 13C with a cool but pleasant breeze. I wish I oculd get behind the double row of Oaks, all the birds fly out from or over those. You have a small nature reserve there!

I should have been sowing seeds, but as it was a rotten day yesterday I had to make up for it today! Thanks Pelle!

I got a helicopter (the latest troop carrier apparently) close-up too, and a large NATO passenger jet came just over the Oaks too, got close up of that too!

Does anyone have images of the White-headed WP to share? We have them in this area, but I've not seen one yet, and they're not to common..........habitat destruction.

I was having my morning cuppa on the front porch watching the birds when they suddenly all spooked. I looked over my shoulder and discovered what had spooked them.

Heck! We get critters here, but nothing that big in the neighborhood. Great pictures.

At first I thought my cat Bum might have come out and spooked them, but he was busy guarding my bed.

What is this? I was heading outside to the woodshop when a big bird startled up. I thought it was a big owl - a Great Gray maybe - certainly big as an eagle.

This is as clear a shot as I could get - That's no owl! What is it?

Could it be a Red Tailed Hawk?
