one of my "boring" nana coreopsis decided last week it was time to start blooming again - though on very short stems this time...

yes, just one butterfly... sigh. that leaf would get in the way of the best shot.
i think i have seen those too, al. Are they kinda furry, like a moth, but in the daytime?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Ground dahlias aren't as fun Victor. Looked good though. The rose and viburnum shots are nice.

had this moth a few days ago.

Yes the Dahlia is now an involuntary ground cover.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Loved all the shots from everyone!!!

Bebop - thanks for that link on the African Daisy. I'm excited to see it is a perennial in zone 10, so I can grow it in Florida. I also followed the link to a company that sells them. Once I get to Fla. I intend to order a couple. They are so unusual, AND you can save the seeds from them, so I can plant some up here as well next spring. Win/Win!!

Here are a pair of bumblebees working over the stargazer dahlias.

Cool shot, Bebop!!

Lexington, VA(Zone 6a)

Always a welcome sight in the fall - Rostrinucula dependens - common name is Weeping Buddleia but it's not a Buddleia - actually a member of the Salvia family.

The dahlias seem to love the cooler weather.

Okay, way too many to comment on all of them individually, but all are terrific shots. I must say I really liked Al's moth pic and Pirl's garden bed of dahlias. All the roses and berries etc. really nice.

Not much worth shooting today but got a few snaps of rain soaked blooms.
New mums this spring, 'Bronze Daisy' and 'Fall Charm'.

Nice pics everyone. I'm enjoying them all cause soon we won't have any blooms - what do we do then? Re-runs!! Eleanor

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Dahlias look nice Pirl. You missed some grassy weeds growing in front of them though ;)
Nice photo bebob2 - what's the 2 for?
ngam - thanks. your dahlia pic is very pretty..

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Ha! The neighbors think it's the daylilies going on and on to frost.

Van Etten, NY(Zone 5a)

Al - my DH is the chief bebopper around here.
Two of our onions got confused and sent up flowers. They are really beautiful.

If you put those onion blossoms in a vase they'll stay perfect for a very long time.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Onions flower - sharp pic.

I tried a backlit one on this one - like it or so-so?

Van Etten, NY(Zone 5a)

Al, it is lovely. I love the way the color is softly repeated to the left and right, plus the hint of magenta.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Works for me too Al. I like the soft colors but it is still sharp and crisp. It doesn't hurt to have such a pretty subject either. :)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

like it Al

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I have no idea what is this one... someone gave me seeds last year and I planted... should have planted all 5 seeds I got ... so cute... love this one... is not a very tall plant... I will plant the other seeds over the winter...

is this what Yankee gave seeds for at the RU??? I am not sure...
