Oh Connie, that's particularly vile. He's so ugly he's cute. There's a contest that occurs amongst the carnivorous plant folk in the UK and I can assure you that would probably be a winner. You LUCKY DUCK YOU that you have that planter. I would give my i teeth to be able to get my hands on a planter like that. Where ever did you get him? Please tell me!

Lauren

Oh my word, I just look at him and I am cracking up laughing. He's hysterical.

Hi Lauren,

I got it from e-Bay. It is so cute! :-)

Connie, this is going to be a really odd request but were there any more or do you remember the name of the seller where maybe you could contact them to see if they have another one? That alligator is simply ghastly and definitely a fun piece and I'd like to have one. I promise if I could find one to buy I'd treasure it and give it a prominant place in my greenhouse... after I was done using it to try to win that contest. Competition is stiff but I think I might have a chance if I could buy one of those alligators for myself.

I did a quick search of eBay and came up empty handed other than this-

A search of the Internet resulted in this-

You are AWESOME! I've never been good with search engines. I try, they just don't cooperate.

Lookie what I found at your last link-

If I buy an unpainted version of this, what do I paint it with that would stick to terra cotta?

Oh you have no idea how you have made my day!

Oh oh oh, from somebody over at GardenWeb-

Quoting:
I paint clay pots regularly to as a hobby and to sell. I have found that the Patio Paint brand works wonderful! It's weatherproof so you don't need an extra sealer, though I do use their Clear Coat to give the pot a glossy finish. If I use any other brand of paint that's not outdoor specific, I seal it with the Patio Paint clear coat as well, and I haven't had any problems with chipping, bubbling or complaints either. Let's HOPE it stays that way!!:) Hope I helped some!:)
Another person from that website mentioned these terra cotta paints are available at Michaels. We have a Michaels by us.

The added bonus to an unpainted alligator is that I will be doing the painting. Even if I try to follow the photo you posted, mine won't look as good. This is great!

Thank you!

No problem! Have a fun! :-)
