redheaded woodpecker

This bird has returned every autumn to work industriously on this old walnut tree. This morning was his first appearance this year. I just think he's adorable!

I thought red-headed's were just white, black and red heads, without the spots. Hmmmm.
Regardless, with all the downies, hairys and red-bellieds I have I guess I shouldn't complain, but I've had a grand total of 1, uno, ONE, red-headed WPs in my yard... I sure hope he comes back this year... and brings friends.
There should be somewhere I could advertise the offerings I have in my yard to try to attract them... I assure you, if I don't get 'em, it's not for a lack of trying.

Red-breasted Sapsucker is indeed what he is. He is certainly persistant in his progression up and around the tree. The holes start near the base and go up about 15 feet and continue onto the two large forks of the tree. They are fairly evenly spaces and it looks like he is trying to cover the whole tree.
