I have two small wisterias (about 30" tall) in pots that I've had for a couple of years now. I'm wanting to plant them in the ground next spring and have been removing any new growth under the "canopy" of the plants and lopping off the growing 'vines' as they start shooting skyward. Is this what I need to continue to do to train it into a tree? I've seen them (tree form) growing when I lived in GA and AL (wisterias grow very abundantly in the wild everywhere there as well) and know it can be done, just not sure how. Hope I've been doing the right thing.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Judy
How do I train Wisteria to standard form?
I'm surprised that after a couple of years they are only 30 inches tall. I'm sure someone will come along with words of wisdom to share with you. Good luck! I sure miss the wisteria I once had!
Here ya go!
