question about hyacinth bean vine

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I got some of these seeds in a round robin. I'd like to plant a vine on a guy wire leading to an electrical line that goes to my security light that is on a tall pole in my backyard. I just thought flowers would look pretty going across. Now my question is: Would hyacinth bean vine be appropriate for this? I keep hearing about how heavy it is. Anyone with experience with this vine care to venture an opinion?

If the seeds you plant all germinate then it will cover whatever will grab on to. Last year my purple hyacinth & my white hyacinth didnt grow as much as they have this year. The attached picture is in the spring. I wish I had a more recent one but just let me tell you that the bench you can see in the pic sometimes gets completely covered and some of the fence behind it too. I clip it to keep it in shape but im sure it would climb and cover a good amount of your pole but the sight of the blooms and the bean pods will be beautiful!

The good news is that it's an annual and the young pods are edible.
