Conjoined Coneflower

Chicago Suburbs, IL(Zone 5b)

Any one else ever have one of these pop up? This is my moms plant, it is several years old and has always produced normal flowers. This year it produced a set of conjoined flowers and oddly enough, a short while later, it produced another set of conjoined flowers. Anyone know if it was just a fluke or if the plant will produce conjoined flowers in the future?

Seems to be more common in rudbeckia that echies, but I had one on Paradoxa this year. No 100% guarantee that you won't have it again, but it seems to be more of a cosmetic problem

That is awesome! In a weird way, it's beautiful :) I'm glad you were able to get a pic and share, thanks. I have never had something like this happen to any of my coneflowers, but I did have 2 sunflowers growing out of the same stalk this year... I don't know if that's more normal than your event, but I thought it neat!
