What's in 10-10-10 Fertilizer?

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7b)

And is it considered organic?

10N - 10P - 10K. This refers to the ratio of nitrogen to phosphorous to potassium. It could be organic, but usually a fertilizer manufactured to this particular standard isn't.

For example, I have a package of bone meal which is organic, and the analysis is 6-12-0.

Thanks

So if one really is looking to garden organically, this stuff should not be used?

Greensboro, AL

Look at the ingredients. The N-P-K designation just tells you the proportion of these nutrients.

If it says something like 'ammonion sulfate' it is not organic.

If it says something like "blood meal" it is organic.

And nasty. Blek.

Greensboro, AL

I just checked my container of Alaska Fish Fertilizer. The analysis on the package is 5-1-1. It is nasty. Yuk.

Oh yeah, the fish emulsion is nasty, too!

Maybe that's how you tell if something is organic--by how bad it smells?

bronxboy: What brand is it?

Rainbow:

I usually use Blood and bone meal along with some alfalfa tea. (Nasty, Nasty Nasty) But I like the smell. LOL

Was just curious abut the 10-10-10. I will check the ingredients

usually if they are organic they will advertise it. bradfield, espoma are some of the organic company's. organic will have a lower rating than inorganic because they have to label what is immediately available to plant. organics release their nutrients over time.
