Bushy St. John's Wort companions

Kerhonkson, NY(Zone 5a)

Can anyone recommend good plant companions for a Hypericum densiflorum? It's in the middle of a small bed and should be 3-4 feet at maturity ... I pulled a bunch of stuff out of that bed and now it only has the St. John's Wort and some rudbeckia behind it and some short stuff in front of it ... those bluish leaves need something to set it off ...

To go with the yellow flowers I think something blue or purple would be nice. Some perennial geraniums like 'Rozanne'. Also a dark foliage plant to contrast with the blue leaves like heuchera 'Obsidian'. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/57636/

Is the foliage on it really bluish? In photos I've seen it looks green.

Rozanne is always a great idea and would work well. You might want to try a mix of dark foliage plants with plants with bright yellow foliage that would pick up the yellow flowers. Lots of possibilities.

It's definitely bluish ... but it is young and maybe will change -- I don't know, never had one before ... it doesn't go that well with other plants ... yes, I know about blue and purple with yellow ... I need a full sun plant or two ... thanks! Maybe I'll try something silvery or variegated ...

The heuchera I suggested will stay dark in full sun. That's where mine are growing. A blue Iris for the spring and purple or blue asters or mums for fall. Good luck with your choices and don't forget a pic when its done. :)

Will do - I'm going to sprinkle some purple aster seeds around there this fall ... see what comes up!
