Tropicals

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

i have a few gingers that are planted in the ground. I know they won't survive if I leave them so they have to be pulled. But, I'm clueless about what to do with them after I've dug. Not sure if I should repot, or store dry, or hang upside down, lol

Any help, ideas or suggestions would be great.

I don't have any tropical Gingers myself, but I don't see any reason not to pot them up and bring them in.

Could you treat them like a Gloriosa tuber, where you would dig and store the tuber in peat or vermiculite at 40 to 50°F?

I really don't know. I dug and potted them all up yest. I'm hoping that when I put them in the basement, the dormant ones will do that and the others will continue to grow.

It'll sure be an experiment, lol

I know what you mean about not knowing for sure about how they will fare until the next growing season. We only have one room in this house that gets chilly enough to store things. We have another that would be too chilly!!

So this will be our first year to try and save the gloriosa.
