Common Figwort

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I have a scrophularia nodosa variegata that is growing very well in a sunny spot in light clay. It's growing so well, in fact, that I'm not sure whether it should be cut back to the ground.

I can't find much on the Internet about the care and feeding of this creature. Can anybody help?

P.S. The blossom isn't much to talk about. The foliage is variegated and is beautiful. And, if I remember right, it's evergreen here in Washington State. But the bees absolutely love it. It was a big hit this summer.
