Dick, I think your plants maybe got mixed up? That's more like Ring of Fire or Beauty Color than Pewter Moon. I just went for a look and Pewter Moon has a much more purple overtone.

Strever,
If your talking of the coop I think you are, I packed your heuchs and they were pewter moon.
I personaly opened the box from the grower and sorted. I have 4 of the pewter moon and they too have the ring of fire. I wonder if it's a grower mix up... or we all have a new cultivar "pewter fired up" lol

What is a ring of fire?

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

hi Fran
it is looking like both the Pewter Moon and the Eco-magnififolia are developing the orange ring :-)

Jamlover
ring of fire is the name of a Heuchera by Lazy SS farms
http://lazyssfarm.com/Plants/Perennials/H_files/H_Images/heuchera_ring_of_fire.htm
it is an orange ring around the periphery of the leaves

Isn't that odd... maybe we should see what gene causes the ring in the first place. maybe they all got crossed in the petry dish.

Oh, I like that. Would make an interesting contrast with the purple ones.

At the moment, I don't remember what I ordered from that co-op - I think I got a substitute for one of them, but I'm really happy with them. One of them started developing the ring you're talking about in August and I thought it was a disease at first, so I'm glad to see this thread. I have a few pictures to post. This one has the ring showing:

In July I noticed one of the plant's crown was really loose and the plant was flopping over. I think a grub was snacking on it, so I planted the pieces and wound up with three plants. Two of them are the small ones in the top of this pic.

The plant on the lower left is the same type as the previous picture (pretty sure, anyway...), but this one didn't get the ring. If anyone has any ideas which Heucheras these are please let me know.

This is the one that the grub broke and has a co-op fern as a bonus. I don't know how tricky it'll be to separate them.

The rest are all getting fat and happy

I think this is 'Snow Angel'

Last one.

edit:Okay, I found my order, it was Palace Purple, Plum Pudding, and Silver Scrolls. I should have looked them up in PF before I posted. I'll see what I can find

hi Claypa
which one has the orange ring ?
it is beginning to look like a lot of them have this gene ?

You got me there.... mine came with some tags, but I'm not home right now to check. And if I remember right, the tags were for the light colored one, which I think is 'Snow Angel', which is not the one showing the ring.

I was hoping you (or anyone) could tell me...

Claypa
what co-op did you get your Heuchera from ?
mine came from the co-op by summerkid from casa flora http://www.casaflora.com/heuchera1.htm
the only Heuchera available for that co-op were
Beauty of Color
Eco-magnifolia
Pewter Moon
Quilter's Joy
Snow Angel
Crimson Curls (has 25-cent patent fee in addition)
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/686912/
which as you can see contain none of the names you have ???
but your plants do resemble some of them :-)

Different summerkid co-op, I guess. The "Helleborus plus" co-op from Northwest Bulb. The only Heuchera in that co-op were Palace Purple, Plum Pudding, and Silver Scrolls.

I guess I forgot summerkid had a few co-ops going at one time, which is probably why they were late. Sorry for the confusion, I remember your name from the one I was in too. So now I'll check mine against the plants you named, maybe I'll figure this out yet!
