Fall crops.

Pelzer, SC(Zone 7b)

I'm getting ready to do a fall planting. I can't use new bales, hay is way to hard to get, and what I have needs to feed the cows. So, I'm going to use my very decomposed hay bales, and hope for the best. Any tips for those of you who've done this before? I'm clearing off the dead plants, and plan to "fumigate" the bales to get the nasty critters out (organically) and add fertilizer before I plant. Any more tips? I'm sure I'm forgetting or ignoring things.
Thanks,
Margo

That should work real good Margo. What are you going to plant? Cool weather plants?

I think so, although I'll probably replant green beans (actually, purple beans) because I can't wait, and it's the only thing My SO would eat from the garden. I have broccoli waiting to go in, and will see what I can get locally as starts, maybe cabbage and collards. I do have two tomato plants that are still in pots (baaad plantmommy) that will get to spread their roots. It should be fun.
