I have a drain pipe right next to my outside French Doors. I would love to start growing a clematis up the pipe and sort of going over the top of my door..... Just so you know I do have siding on this part of the house. If ANYONE has photos of something that I am explaining that would be FABULOUS to see. If course I will also need to know how you did it. I am getting so excited just thinking about it!!!!

You have a neat idea. If you could find some white netting to cover
the drain pipe the vine would happily grow on that.
What about white fish netting?
Dig an 18" hole, pebbles at the bottom, hump of soil, gently spread
the roots over the hump and refill hole. Some people incorporate
composted cow manure to the soil. Water well and do not let
it dry out.
Shade the lower one foot of the vine.
