Is yours a SDB?

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

It kind of looks like my Kermit (IB). Very nice color combo!

Yes it is an SDB...does look alot like Kermit

D

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

Beautiful anyway Dee. It's coloring looks much more intense than Kermit.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Dee-
I think you should still introduce it. Many people(like me) just love the little cuties(SDBs), and would pass up on Kermit, for yours, just because they want a dwarf...
:0)

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

I agree that you should introduce it. Yours looks a lot greener than Kermit in Plant Files and besides, the smaller size makes it quite different.

Lebanon, OR

thank you for the encourage, now to think of a name

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

St. Patrick?

Lebanon, OR

already taken....green machine?????

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

I'm trying to add more SDBs to my own garden. Wierd spring killed 9 out of 12 I added last fall.

Marquette, MI(Zone 5a)

"Not Easy Being Green" ?

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

I especially love "Not Easy Being Green". One of my favorite songs.

Lebanon, OR

Now I have to find the song, never heard it.

D

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

It is Kermit the frog's blues song from Sesame Street. It is actually a really good rendition of a blues song like from a piano bar but with hilarious words. You would have to buy a Sesame Street CD to get it , I guess. A friend of mine has the music for it.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Dee-
My own personal opinion is that green machine sounds like a name for a larger iris...

This iris reminds me of a couple of things. (not saying you should name it any of these, but it looks like the color of a Luna moth(Actias Luna) http://www.hiltonpond.org/images/MothLuna.jpg , or sulphur and water, watercolors, or that paint technique where you layer colors then drop alcohol on the paint. A short quippy one word or two word name would suit it best(again, just my opinion).
Names that apply to the color:
Caribbean waters?
Island waters?
Seafoam?
Key lime(pie)?
Char-truce?(play on the color chartreuse)
Sulfur Springs?
Lime sorbet?
Pistachio tart?
Margarita?(on ice?)
Limoncello(Italian lemon/lime apertif)
Highlighter
Emerald seas(waters, etc.)
Emeralds & sapphires
Emeralds to topaz
Topaz(comes in different colors like green and blue)
Picture of a green topaz:
http://www.djezpics.net/ezpics/Mohamed/Peridot_Green_Topaz_Oct.jpg
blue topaz:
http://foggymountaingems.com/images/20030703-blue_topaz.jpg

Names that apply to the size:
Buttons
Bitsy Lizzy(for little green lizard, lol)
Tiny tart, or tiny tot...teensy tart, or teensy tot
cupcake
Little limon

Of those I think I like seafoam, Topaz, or pistachio tart best so far, but maybe I'll think of some more. Why don't you post a thread on name suggestions, and offer a rhizome to the person who picks the winning name?
People love friendly competition for a prize. :0)

Good luck with your little cutie, and finding its new name. :0)
-Taylor

Wanda-Such a shame! I'll bet you are disappointed. Sorry to hear it.

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

I was typing while you were all discussing the Kermit song...

Didn't Kermit and Miss Piggy marry in the movie? If they had a son, the son's name would be perfect for this one!, lol...

Lebanon, OR

Don't think they had a son.

I like many of the names and if I pick any of the ones above will send that person one of them when I intro

Great

http://www.disgalaxy.addr.com/Muppets/kermit.htm

I think that "Watercolor Spring" would be a good name. (or Spring Watercolor)

Lebanon, OR

sounds good too :0)

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

How about

Irish Blessing
Celtic Knot
Book of Kells
Shannon
Dublin
Irish Dream
Celtic Tear Drop
Celtic Fairie
Ballaghmore Castle
Fitz
St. Patricks Cloak
Lough Derg
Emerald Isle
lepracon

I could think of about 100 more Irish ones

Or a diffrent look

Parrot
Tail Talk
Swak
Perfect Peace
Hong Kong Jade
Budda Belly
East Indies
Tajin
. . . oh there are so many more.

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

How "bitsy" is this if it's only an SDB and not a MDB? I would think "bitsy", "tiny" and words of same would be inappropriate. "Little", on the other hand, would be fine.

Certainly has a lot going for it:
mutted bicolors, ruffles and veining.
Very nice.

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

Wow! you are good at this MitchF. You must really want that seedling. I would also suggest
Lime Tart or
Guacamole Pie
Just saw the move Waitress ( about pie making).
Green Beanie
Green Spring
Green Pool
Green Frog
Green Froglet
Little Green Frog
Son ( Daughter) of Kermit

I guess I got off on Kermit as well. Thanks doss for the Kermit website with even the music. Imagine someone seated at the piano playing this tune and the grownup crowd singing this song with passion. Fond memory.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I sure do!

Frogs - to me would not have the blue in there... that is what made me think island and thus Ireland.. (does not hurt my name is Fitzgerald!)

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

How about :
Irish Frog ?
or
Blue Frog?

I guess I am getting silly.

Naperville, IL(Zone 5a)

how about...

Lemon Blueberry Shortcake - connotes a smaller size, at least to me.
Blueberry Lemon Drizzle (I love lemon and blueberry combo baked goods, can you tell?)
Pixie Stix
Blue-eyed Pixie
Pixie Blue Eyes
Blueberry Falls

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

Here 's another one:

Little Green Bug

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Leftwood-good point about SDB vs. MDB.

Wickedelph-Ooo! love pixie stix, ...pixie pie, pixie party, pixie dust, pixie puff, pixie parade
pixie-anything!, lol...
Pistachio pixie?...nah...probably not. lol
this is fun
Pistachio pie?
How about Curacao?? (That green liqueur you make 'grasshoppers" with?"
How about grasshopper pie?
Creme de Menthe?
Spring green?
Green Spring?
Little Sprite?(like the lemon lime soda)

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

I like Pistacio Pie and Grasshopper Pie. Wait, whose side am I on? It is fun, isn't it.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

How about

Mighty Mite
Mighty Mouse
Swamp Thing
It
The Grinch
Green Eggs

ummm

still thinking.

Naperville, IL(Zone 5a)

How green is it? On my screen it looks yellow, is it more green? with blue or purple?

In my previous ones, lime can be substituted for lemon. =)

some more...

Splash Waterfalls
Sea Glass Mosaic
Sea Glass Sparkle(r)
Sea Glass Treasure
Seaside Sparkle(r)
Sand and Sea
Green Blue Sea
Green Hills Blue Sea
Green Bay Blues
Blue and Yellow Make Green

D

(Taylor) Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Dee-
Are you saying you want us to stop, now?, lol...

...thought of one more last night while falling asleep:
Limelight
or Lil limelight,
Little limelight,
In the limelight, etc.

Lebanon, OR

No, do not stop think I will post all my seedling pictures that I am drawing blanks on for you all to come up with names...LOL

D

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

while falling asleep . . .

Okay, now I know you all have fallen off the edge, and I'm thinkin' someone's going to dream about it. Maybe a good thing: the part of the brain that processes logic completely shuts down when sleeping. "Thinking out of the box" as it is said - way out.

Now how about some crazy names from the dream world. (and don't forget to quickly write them down when you wake up. Memory partially shuts down too.)
