Lexington, SC

My mom in law has a few white eggplant plants, that look like eggs, are they edible or just for decoration????

lynnerobin They are for eating I am growing white ones too, I heard they were sweeter and more delicate flavor. Mine is called Cloud Nine. After seeing the white ones grow you really know why they are called eggplants because they look so much like eggs. I have only ever eaten the purple ones so cannot wait to try these. Mine are almost ready to pick. Says they grow 7" but don't know if I picked a little sooner if the taste would be affected so am waiting. Deanna

White eggplants are ok, but there are two versions of the Easter Eggplant which look like an egg. The others like Casper and Cloud Nine look like white Italian type eggplant, elongated.

I grew them because someone told me they were their favorite, milder and sweeter. I haven't tried them yet but you learn as you go. I will let you know if any good. The description on tag says white and does not say they turn yellow.Says pure white fruit no bitterness. They are a Bonnie plant. Deanna

Cloud Nine and Italian White are very good. The Easter Egg is small, and in my opinion, too much work to be bothered with. They do work nicely for kababobs, but are not user friendly for most dishes.
