My lupine plants became infected with some kind of insect. I first noticed the leaves falling over and the middle of the plant covered with tine white "bugs" I dusted with sevin thinking that would solve the problem. It didn't, and they spread to my other plants. Since the blooming time is over, I cut down the Lupine to find that the white "bugs" were either the eggs or dead bugs because the live ones were tiny green things with rather large wings. Does anyone know what they are, are they common to lupine and what is the best way to get rid of them. As I said, I cut down the lupine and poured a soapy solution over everything. The sun also seemed to help get rid of them. But I want to grow more lupine but may hesitate if this is a perennial problem. Thanks.
