Curious about compost

(Zone 4a)

How many of you rely on compost material to give nutrients to your clematis....I am curious since I am doing my own composting if what you do is stack the material around your own clematis..TIA

Whenever I plant a new plant in my garden, I mix the soil in the hole about 50/50 with compost. I add whatever amendments I am using and mix it all up and plant. Then once a year I put a mulch of compost on top or the soil. Compost is almost as important as water for making plants grow -- clematis as well.

Oh yeah, so glad that I dropped in. I love talking about compost. I started composting last summer. My husband built a fairly large compost bin out of cinder block. We are now needing to add more cinder block and start a new one. I can't begin to start using it on my plants. I know they will be thanking me for the nutrients.

Well, I am off to read some more on this forum.
