Kill an ornamental vine

A huge ornamental vine with leaves about 8 inches across grows a good 40ft tall and smothers other plants, trees and shrubs in my garden. Unfortunately, the owner, who gave me permission to dig it up, has died and I don't like to enter the garden without permission. How can I kill it from my own garden before new owners move in? Roundup only kills the leaf I paint it onto?

roundup works from the leaves to the roots. A few midnight runs with it hitting all the leaves you can should do some good. And you are allowed to cut anything that grows into your yard (just the portion that's in your yard)
