Great Blue Heron swallowing his dinner

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

Today, I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, a Great Blue had just speared a fish. There are 4 shots.

After turning the fish head first, down it went.

I didn't think that he would be able to get it down, but he took sips of water, to help move the fish along.

The whole process took nearly 15, nail biting (for me), minutes. The bird definately looked relieved to have gotten his meal down.

Wow, bsharf, how cool is that? What a unique experience. Wonderful photos! Thanks for sharing!

BTW, do you know if those are waterlily leaves in the water? I think I had one spring up in my backyard, but there's no water there (there was in the winter/spring), so I'm confused, lol. But it looks just like the ones in your pic!
