how are yours doing??? mine are all very pretty this year they must be getting enough of the good chlorine water everyone knows its not natural water from the heavens... I do not have any of the expensive one. But I like them just the same.

Great looking Daylillies!
Ours has bloomed and gone. Is this a natural effect for this time of year?

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

Hello gardenlady

I have three that have bloomed so far and a pinkish colored one that is just getting ready to flower :o)

my stella de oro is starting to fade out, and this yellow one in the picture below, not sure what it is called, I thought it was a stella too but it is a darker yellow than the stella. But beautiful :o)

That last one looks like Lullaby Baby. Is it a smaller flower? My daylilies are struggling this year. They don't like city water and we sure haven't had enough rain. I have smaller blooms, lower bud count and a lot of buds simply falling off the plants.

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

hello hemlady :o)

No the flowers are the same size as the others.

We are trying to get city water on our road, will know for sure on the 17th. DH wanted to block our well up if we did and I told him NO WAY. We would use it to water the flower beds with. The man has no common sense what so ever lol...

Sorry to hear your dl's aren't doing so well. so far all of mine are doing ok. Just got to keep the J. beattles off everything else. they are really bad this year. We have had some rain, not much, but I catch what I can in buckets and store in gallon jugs, it usually tides me over between rain falls..

Melvindale, MI(Zone 5a)

That's a good idea. I should start collecting rain water too.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

I know Ive noticed the j beetles are getting pretty bad around here also I've been killing quit a few of them. I do not like those bugs. Do you ever drown them in a dish of soapy water? Or do you just smash them into the ground??? I like doing both ways lol. Not to change the subject but this is our dog we just had to have her p. t. s. She was very old and we loved her a whole lot may she rest in peace. Ronna, Have a great week every one :} We are missing Ginger in Plainwell.

This is the first year that we have really been bothered by them in years, I killed 10 of them that were on my tomato plant, broke the stem right off a ground them buggers in the ground. DH got 2 off my canna plant before that, and so far I haven't seen anymore, but I have a feeling they will be back before to long:(

So sorry you had to Ginger to sleep. I know how you feel, we had a german shepherd that I had, had since he was 2 weeks old. I had to bottle feed him and my son was just a few months old too... Brutus was old too. But it was a very hard thing to do. Best dog I ever had.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

sorry to hear about your Ginger gardenlady123. must have been a very hard thing to do.have a happy 4th of july holiday eveyone.-erika

Melvindale, MI(Zone 5a)

Sorry for your loss Gardenlady. I know how you feel. Last summer we had to have one of our two cats put to sleep. They are part of the family and they are missed.

AuGres, MI(Zone 5b)

Gardenlady, I am so very sorry about Ginger. She sure had a sweet little face. I know the pain of losing a beloved pet. My condolences.

thanks every one i didnt mean to bring every one down. its just so hard we "see" her all over the house. thanks she was a sweetie and we still love her very much. Ronna, any rain yet? none hereyet , well if you count the ten drops that evaporated as soon as they fell lol.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

My lillies were doing quite well. We went away for a few days and I picked several big buds. DH asked me what I was doing, as we were going on a friends boat and I had this vase full of buds. Well....Our friend loved the flowers opening every day. We had a lovely display, and of course when we got home every, every bud was chewed off around the house. Even the big yellow ones that the deer NEVER eat, and the white ones they hate was eaten down to the ground. If the stalk was too big to eat, they ate the leaves. They ate hundreds of buds.
I turned to DH and said "that is why I picked the buds" At least I got to see some pretty lillies this year!

Mine are going strong too....some look a little bad because of no water though.

Dori - thought of you this weekend - I was at a casino....lost my shirt! Continues to be dry as toast here and the deer are eating everything (pigs....)

I'm off to move the sprinklers...again

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

I cannot believe it. The deer missed one!
(be sure to look at all the stalks)

cp - hunting season cannot come too soon! They haven't touched my DL, but went down the row of tomatoes and ate the main stem right out of each one!! What pigs.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Wow, I never knew they ate tomatoes! Well, they had never ate the yellow lillies either before. I just love lillies but they ate the best ones before I could pick them this year.

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

I missed the first bloom on my Mauve Mini, but got the 2nd one this morning :o)

Gardenlady, I too am so sorry to hear the passing of your beloved Ginger :( It's been years that I had to take my babe to be pts. The sting has not lessened, but I know she is in a better place, and happy again. Thank You Dee for that wonderful link, the tears just gushed down my cheeks as I watched and read the words! I have my Dads dogs now and two of them are pretty old and sleep alot, they will tell me when it's time for them.
Here are a few pictures of the daylilies I took.
