I want to purchase a portable CB for a road trip and know nothing about the equipment. Have done as much research as I can find on the net, but do not understand the terminology. I am considering the Cobra HH38WXST which comes with a small magnetic mount antenna and the Midland 75-822 which has an antenna that attaches to an exterior auto antenna. My car does not have an external antenna.
Here are the questions:
Can I use a magnetic mount antenna on the Midland. If so, how does it attach?
What is a BNA mount? How does it attach to the car? From what I read it improves reception over the "rubber ducky" (?) that comes with the magnetic mount antenna.
Are the CB's that are advertised as "mobile" really mobile or do they have to be mounted on the dash or console?
Help I need a crash course in CB Radios 101.
Thanks.
