Gorgeous, Allison!

Possibly "Bourbon" or "Ville de Lyon" http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/new-clemdetail.cfm?dbkey=550

Sorry, ignore "Bourbon".

the ville de lyon looks very close... thank you

I was worried about this one... i was forced to move it twice with the retaining wall work we had done ... and I am so glad I didn't kill it

There are so many Clematis "look alikes" it can be difficult to tell them apart. Weather and soil will also affect their color.

Is it draped over the retaining wall? That would be gorgeous! A waterfall of color!!

I actually have it up a trellis... didn't know it was a hard prune... i left it alone for 2 years and just starting to bloom now

bad news is I since i wasn't sure it was going to spring back... I planted the polish spirit on the same trellis

might have to make another change but this time I will move the polish spirit... and give that baby a break

I think they would make an awesome combination! Just make sure your trellis is big and sturdy to support them.

it's sturdy and but only about 6 foot high
