Hello,
Someone came to my job lastweek and gave me about 100 iris. I may not be able to get these into the ground right away. If I can't how do I store them until I can?
Thank you for any help as I am new to these... I did have two bloom this year that were wonderful.. dark dark purple almost black.. I was proud...

Keep them dry, well ventilated, in a cool area out of direct sunlight, if possible. Hanging them in onion bags is a good option because it will provide them with plenty of air flow. Do NOT keep them in plastic bags or refrigerate them.

If the rhizomes are large and plump, they can probably handle being out of the ground for several months. It would, of course, be preferable to get them back in the ground as soon as possible.

Those purple ones are pretty, Susan. They look really well grown, with healthy leaves. You should be proud.
