How do you tell if a rose has gone back to it's wild root stock? Some one told me its when they have 7 leaves that it gone back to wild.I have 3 that have never bloomed - but look real healthy.I want their space for other things if they are not going to produce.They were transplanted there from another place but have never bloomed.The others that were transplanted finally bloomed this year.

you can usually tell which are the 'suckers' and yes they will have seven leaves as opposed to five. the shoot will usually be a lot more vigorous and green too. if you see any on your roses, twist it off from the roots, don't cut, or it may come back.

I am just going to dig the whole plant up and put it out in the feild.that way if it ever does bloom I'll see it,but right now all I see are 7 leaves -every where on the plant.

if the stems are coming from below the graft it will be true to the root stock; if from above the graft it should be the variety propagated.
