Ok let me try this again since I have no idea where myother post went to.
This is an old Southern Red Oak that over the years has taken a beatign from tornadoes , drought and the highway people changing the road and now all the dirt .
I need to trim the branch sticking out to the right. it a long branch and is dragging on the groudn and I can't get to mow around it.
Where I should cut it back too that it won't send new branche s straight up. Up above this section looks like aan old oak but when the big branch broke off here it developed ne w branche s that look like this. The crotch is gone so have no ide a wher e to cut.
Any suggestions?
Oh and also, so many of this trees root s are showign way up above the ground and are startign to break from trafic driving over them. If I have the city bring some dirt to put back over them , will the root s them rot after beign exposed to the heat and sun and from hardeneing off?
