Iris stems tall and falling over

Whitmore Lake, MI

The stems seem thinner than previous years and fold over. No sign of damage at the fold occuring 4 to 6 inches from the bottom. They are all done by now but I'm wondering about next year.

The horrible weather patterns this year in the Midwest and some other parts of the country have severely weakened the irises, their stalks, and the plants overall. I wouldn't be too concerned about the problems you had with weak stems this year. With any luck at all, weather patterns will normalize next year and allow the irises to develop normally.

What about iris borers?

Whitmore Lake, MI

No sign of borers. I'll chalk it up to the crazy spring weather and see what happens next year. Thanks for your suggestions.
