Hi -- newby question here -- we raised lettuce in our raised beds this spring in SC. Enjoyed it for a while, then it got bitter-tasting in warm weather, we stopped harvesting it, got distracted with other stuff, and it went to seed. The plants are huge and beautiful, but now they've got to go, and I was wondering if they would be good for my compost pile. If so, should I remove the seed heads first?
compost old lettuce plants?
Yes, add 'em... The seed heads are not a problem. That's the kind of weed I could use more of. :)
