My first seedlings - look how different!

Dallas, GA(Zone 7b)

One of my Endeavors produced two seeds last year, and following the advice I got here, I scored, soaked, and planted them in small pots. After about 10 days in plastic-bag tents under a regular 40 watt bulb, they emerged.

Now, I'm really intrigued with how different they are. One already looks like the parent (with the lovely red edges to the leaves) - the other doesn't resemble it at all. I had read a little about how cannas do this, but just hadn't ever seen it for myself. How cool!

Georgia, How exciting, to grow some from seed. This is my first time at trying to grow cannas from seed and hope that mine do as well. Would you mind telling me how far down you plant the seeds ?

Just barely covered them. Maybe 1/2" of soil.

They're still really cool. About 2' tall now and still very different Can't wait to see them bloom.
good luck with yours.

I'll be lucky if they live.......I've never had good luck with seeds before. Thanks for the info ! I've already nicked them and they are going to soak for one more day. Wish me luck !
