Search feature doesn't work very well....

What am I doing wrong? Why do so many posts come up that have nothing to do with what I type in?
For example, just now I typed in "dividing irises" hoping to get a refresher course, and 10,000 plus posts came up, only the first had dividing irises as the topic....

It takes a while to learn the search tool on DG and often I think you are ahead to use Google. If you type in dividing irises, just like that you will get every thread that mentions dividing and irises, not necessarily together. Every thread, not every entry. If you put "dividing irises" in quotes, you will get every thread where the words appear in exactly that order and spelling. Then you have to go through the threads to find the part you hit.
Google will just give you the documents with the top number of hits, but works the same way as DG. Only you will only get the entry, not the whole thread.

Thank you, I tried it again with the 2 words in quotation marks, and only 3 threads came up, one of which was this one, another doesn't even seem to be about irises, and one about irises, which MAY have the term in it if I care to read down far enough. Not a very useful feature, IMHO!

I use the search feature on Plant Files. Try google for the rest. It has DG indexed and is in the business of searching, therefore very good at it.

Do you need help dividing your iris? I usually don't touch mine until 6 weeks after bloom--usually in July.

I am just doing iris borer control. I don't have much to divide as I dug and bleached and "dewormed" all of them, and I see the signs of more borers this year so I want to get a jump on it. I know Laurie says that Merit in the early spring is the way to go but I didn't do it. Thanks,
