Blight?

North West, OH(Zone 5b)

Hey All,

I posted this a few days ago on the pest and disease forum but got no response so I thought I'd try it here......

My parents came to me with a problem which I'm passing on to you in hopes of finding a remedy. They've had 2 different kinds of ivy climbing over their patio for as long as I can remember and now something's got it. I would guess it's some kind of blight(?) but I have no idea what to do about it. The vines are really starting to drop off and they're wondering if there's anything that can be done to save it.

Thanks for any suggestions,
La

You might try H202 (Hydrogen Peroxide)

This is totally off topic--but Randy and et. al; I followed this link. Did you catch the letter from the editor at the bottom of this page? Best thing I've read all day. =)

Thanks so much for responding rj. I did a little digging and the closest I can come is black spot....except the spots aren't black, LOL. I guess I will pass all this along to my folks and let them take it from here. I (they) sure appreciate the help.

Yeah..they looked very interesting..I hadn't seen quite that color before on the spots..glad you've got it solved.

LOL....Deb, I found that site last month and I really enjoy it, but that was a good editorial!

HI Lala_Jane

I've got similar affliction and wonder if you have had any further breakthroughs with identificaton or treatment--I don't think black spot is correct.

I think I would spray with Daconil fungicide. It can't hurt and it might just stop the fungus. I'm guessing that it is a fungus or possibly a herbicide drift. We live in the country on an acreage and one year my plants on the south side of the house were affected by something that my neighbor, a farmer, sprayed in his field. JMO.
