Saw the leaves last year. Had no idea it flowered until we drove by it in the northern redwoods yesterday, coming back from Brookings, Oregon.
Here's the image - quite a nice flower stalk. Leaves are nice too.
There's an option to view it larger in my album at http://www.mdvaden.com/album_Redwoods.shtml
It's near the end of the album.
Anyone know the range of the plant, if you know what it is?
North CA redwood forest wildflower ID
Wouldn't know it on a bet, but I really admire the lighting/setting of your photo.
Just peaceful and fabulous.
A name !!
Got a message from someone. It's:
Clintonia andrewsiana
Thanks.
About the lighting - it was partially sunny day. I take a lot of photos in that area. Basically, right next to Hy. 199, a few miles out of Crescent City, CA, on the way toward Cave Junction, Oregon.
Its just down the road from Jediah Smith redwoods state park.
Some of the Rhododendrons are huge in that forest. They were in bloom this weekend too, and, suprisingly, western azaleas again.
I need one, is it protected, or do people grow it in native nurseries, I have a much smaller, duller Clintonia, commonly called bead lily. That is a great pic.
Seeds are sometimes available here:
