help - why won't my Iris Bloom

Charleston, SC(Zone 8a)

The plants look great! I do no even know the type - they were given to me by my mother.

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

How long have you had them? Sometimes they take a while to bloom. Also, do they have plenty of sun? They like sun. Also, be sure they get a lot of phosphorus. That is the element that brings flowers.

Charleston, SC(Zone 8a)

The sun may be the issue... can they be moved now or wait until fall.

Oro Valley, AZ(Zone 9a)

In addition paulabyers.............

1.) Were they originally grown in South Carolina? (If not they may take an additional year to adapt - considering they are the type of irises that grow in your area.)

2.) Are they planted too deep? (The rhizomes ought to be level with the soil - barely covering the tops.)

3.) Too much nitrogen? (Too much nitrogen will produce a lot of green growth with few or no blooms).

They can be moved now or anytime up to 30 days before your first freeze is expected.

Hope this helps.
