I have a big pot of hollyhocks with rust; is there any way to save them or should I throw them in the trash?
rust on hollyhocks
From what I remember reading in other threads here, it's pretty much a given that a hollyhock will get rust. Mine have gotten rust 2 years in a row so far. Next year I hope to take more preventative steps. But at this point I don't cut them down. I just try for better luck next year.
This might help you to break the cycle: http://plantclinic.cornell.edu/FactSheets/hollyhockrust/hollyhockrust.htm
