Looking for ratating star casting lamp.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I have been looking for one of these for my sister's birthday for two years. I thought I would post here and see if I can get some more eyes looking. I am wanting one of the vintage metal rating lamps that cast stars on the walls and ceiling. I would even take a newer one if it did the same thing.

I might even find a prize for anyone that can help me locate one for a reasonable price.

Is it shaped like a regular lamp? I've found a disco ball light thing that projects stars and moons in different colors. If you can describe what it looks like for me, I'll be happy to help you look for one. :o)

Well Rain it is a metal cylinder that sits on a base and rotates and throws stars on the wall. Have you seen the tide ad with the lamp on the little boys table tha is rotating? I think it is about 10" tall or so.

No, I haven't seen that. I don't watch TV much at all. I'll keep looking for you, though. :o)

Thanks that would be nice.

Wow...this is the first time I'd seen this forum.....will have to 'watch' it now!

My 12 y.o. son has one in his room...but I know he would never give it up.
Hopefully though, it will help you to find one by knowing that we bought it at a Shopko store near here.....unfortunately I don't get up that way any more, but I will have my nieces look, Makshi...they get there once in a while.
The one we have isn't 'vintage'...we bought it about 5 years ago...but it does the same thing!
I'll look around....maybe there'll be one in a consignment store.

When is the b-day?

Nan,

I have been looking for 2 years. Her birthday is Christmas Day. She ruined Christmas dinner that year. :)

Regards,
Diane

OK....so we've got plenty of time.
Hope she didn't ruin Christmas dinner because she didn't get her lamp?

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Nan,

No she didn't do that this time. She doesn't even know I am looking for one for her.

Thanks for helping me look.

Hi Diane,
We have a shopko store here, I check it out next time I'm there and see if they still carry them. I will also look at garage slaes for you.
I love this forum :)

Maybe all the eyes watching will find one.

Makshi:

Don't know exactly what the lamp that you want looks like, but here are possibilities:

http://www.enchantedlantern.com/catalog.php?page=3&category=2

http://www.endoftherainbow-gifts.com/rotatingdreamlampmoonstars.html
http://web.iwebcenters.com/funlamps/item185645.ctlg

I believe that the lamp you are describing is like the ones on the "enchanted lantern" site. That site also has replacement inserts -- in case you find a cheap yardsale lamp which you don't like. I don't know measurement of inserts, but if you find that out, then it may help you shop for cheap one.

Good luck.

I ran into these, they are for night lights, or a very small lamp.

I know these are paper...still keeping my eyes open for the old fashioned metal ones.
Here is a kit that you can make one yourself
