Well, I asked some questions and did some more reading and I guess I'll be replacing my Buddleias. Seems they are becoming invasive in Illinois. Then I went over the list of invasives for my area and found I have two more in my yard.
Lysimachia Nummularia, I have the golden one. Does anyone know if I should consider it invasive just as the regular one? My guess is, yes.
And I have a Lythrum virgatum "Morden's Pink" I bought it probably 20 years ago. the catalog assured that it was infertile and would not produce seed. And it hasn't, ever. But I have just read that while the plant does not produce seed it can cross pollinate with the wild ones and I found Morden Pink listed as a plant we should not buy. So bye bye.
I was feeling kinda low about giving up my plants....but then I realized......Yippee! I get to go buy some new plants! (I'll take the invasive list with me.)
checked my yard for invasives
Chris,
i did a quick search for Ill DNR invasives... and came up with this
http://dnr.state.il.us/orep/ctap/invasive/
though there are no photos.
I've been using the WISC DNR site - as it does have images.
http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/invasives/photos/
hopefully between the two, you can find exactly what you are looking for.
