Cauliflower

Columbus, GA(Zone 5b)

A few questions in regards to Cauliflower, the plant is starting to form. So wondering if i need to trim excess leaves around the plant, to help focus on the growth of the bloom?

Does anybody have ideas on how to get the catpillars away we have like 4 varieties, and i keep removing but with all the rain they are doing srious damage, I tried a lemon/orange peel soaked water today to see if that helps detract? but does naybody have any other ideas?

No trimming, It helps with appearance and crispness to tie the leaves together over the head when it first begans to show. Takes about 3 days from first appearance to harvest. Cbbage worms are easily controlled with Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) DIPEL and Thuricide are two popular brand names.
