need lots of ferns, not much money!

good morning! any suggestions for best places to buy ferns if i need to cover a lot of area? zone 6

Try Craig's List and Freecycle in your area.My daughter got free ferns and hostas from a lady who lost her only shade tree and didn't want to or was unable to dig them out herself.

Also check in your area to see if there is a Native Plant Society. For a small amount, you can become a member and participate in plant rescues. Not only will you get ferns, but companion plants that do well in your area. Another idea is to see if your state or locality has a Farmers Market Bulletin. Not just for farmers, the Mkt Bulletin is a good place to run ads on plants you're looking for. Lastly, call your county extension agent and ask whether the Master Gardeners in your area have plant sales. You can find great plants at a bargain. At this time of year, MGs are holding plant sales everywhere.

Yes and the garden clubs as well, but you may be a bit late as we hold our sale early in May.
