Irises from AIS Show in Oklahoma City.

Los Alamos, NM(Zone 5a)

The first week in May I attended the AIS Convention in Oklahoma City. It is the first time I have gone and I had a ball as we toured iris gardens until we dropped. There were also good sessions all of the various kinds of iris, tall bearded, median, aril, spuria, LA, Japanese and others. So when I get tired of mowing the lawn and pulling weeds I will come in and put a photo or two up.

DISCLAIMER: I am no photographer. I probably got the names right but no guarantee! Please correct any glaring errors I make.

The first one is Afternoon in Rio, Schreiner's 2005.

Oh thank you so much for sharing your photos was sick and did not get to go and I'm only 100 miles a way .
glad it did not rain you out or blow you away
our last Okla AIS convention we had a stage 5 tornado the day before .
But there was no damage in tour gardens but some of the places we saw on the way to gardens that year
were heart breaking.
waiting with batted breath for more photos

So glad you are interested. I will post more. I didn't get everything. Who could? My battery would wear out or I would use up all my memory, etc. etc. It was wonderful. We had a bit of wind, but no rain, except a few light sprinkles. The gardens were outstanding, though a bit wind blown. The bad stuff happened in Kansas this time, though there were lots of tornado warnings.

You're not a photographer? That first picture should be a catalogue cover. And the rest aren't too shabby either. Please grace us with more.

By the way, I bought a larger memory chip, and carry extra batteries for my camera, just for those occassions.

pollyk,
Boy, I need to get a larger chip and an extra battery as well! Thanks for the compliments on my photography, they are due solely to my Olympus Stylus, or rather my husband's. It has made me look like I know what I am doing. I will add more as I have time.

All of these irises have spent blossoms on them so people can see how many blooms each one had. Good info, but it was hard to resist reaching out and pulling them off.
