Is there a difference between spider mites and regular spiders. I just found another plant with cob webs all over the leaves. I'm hoping I'm just not a good house keeper.

Spiders and spider mites are not the same thing. Spiders are beneficial to have in the garden because they'll eat insects, but spider mites of course you don't want. It wouldn't hurt to doublecheck where the webbing is coming from, it could be a spider but you will also notice that with bad spider mite infestations. I would check the underside of your leaves for small brown dots, or look at the leaves themselves and see if you notice a sort of stippled yellow pattern, if you see either of those then you have spider mites.

Hmmm, spider mites you definitely don't want.
