So, I've been making lists of historic iris I wanted, looking especially toward really old cultivars, and high on my list was Florentina.
Then, these lovelies popped up among a large bed of mystery old iris moved from shadowy spots where they'd never bloomed, to a sunny spot where they're suddenly thriving and blooming. Are these Florentina?
Is this Florentina?
the first one I would say is 'Florentina' , It's that silvery blue cast that will give it away.
I don't know what the second one is, but it sure is a pretty one.

Thanks!
My 'Florentina' started blooming today, an old favorite. I planted them in the early 80's from an herb grower who used the roots. She was getting divorced, and I went to her yard sale and was smart enough to ask what she was doing with her big established herb plants. She realized she could sell them all to me so on the spot my house guests who were with me where all given a shovel and we dug away. We had just built a new house with no garden. I still have most of her plants or their offspring. Patti
That looks just like mine. Thanks.
